Twin Sister's Helping Hand became the Rescuing Hug

Twin Sister's Helping Hand became the Rescuing Hug - Facts Analysis

Miracle Of Life - A Must Read
Twin girls, Brielle and Kyrie, were born 12 weeks ahead of their due date. Needing intensive care, they were placed in separate incubators.
Kyrie began to gain weight and her health stabilized. But Brielle, born only 2 lbs, had trouble breathing, heart problems and other complications. She was not expected to live.
Their nurse did everything she could to make Brielle’s health better, but nothing she did was helping her. With nothing else to do, their nurse went against hospital policy and decided to place both babies in the same incubator.
She left the twin girls to sleep and when when she returned she found a sight she could not believe. She called all the nurses and doctors and this is what they saw (refer to the picture above).
As Brielle got closer to her sister, Kyrie put her small little arm around her, as if to hug and support her sister. From that moment on, Brielle’s breathing and heart rate stabilized and her health became normal.
A little bit of tender love goes a long way. Show affection to all ?

Analysis:
The message talks about two premature born twin girls Brielle and Kyrie while both were placed in a incubator, claiming that as Kyrie put her little arm around her sister Brielle who was critical, she started breathing well and her health became normal. The story is a fact. This incident of a sister's helping hand came to be popularly known as 'The Rescuing Hug'.
The story goes back to October 17, 1995, when Heidi and Paul Jackson had twin girls named Brielle and Kyrie, born 12 weeks before their due date. So as a standard practice, the twin girls were placed in two separate incubators in the neonatal intensive care unit at The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts, Worcester. Kyrie was growing well and healthy, but Brielle, with breathing and heart-rate problems could not grow well. On November 12, Brielle suddenly went into critical condition, unable to breathe properly, and her thin arms and legs turned bluish-gray. Her heart rate went high, and she got hiccups, a dangerous sign that worried the parents and the medical staff if she might die. The nurse attendant, Gayle Kasparian tried everything to stabilize Brielle, by increasing the oxygen flow to the incubator, even then Brielle could not breathe properly and her heart rate soared.
Then Kasparian remembered an unconventional treatment procedure that is common in parts of Europe, by double-bedding the multiple-birth babies, especially the premature born ones. After discussing the same with the terrified parents, she placed Brielle into her sister's incubator, whom she hadn't seen since birth. As soon as the incubator door was closed, Brielle snuggled up to her sister Kyrie and began to calm down. Within few minutes, Brielle's blood-oxygen readings improved and she dozed off into sleep. Here is where the tender magic happened - Kyrie wrapped her left arm around her sister Brielle, as if to hug her; and as a result, her heart rate stabilized, her temperature became normal. In due course of time, the twins went home healthy, and according to the Jackson couple, the twin sisters slept together on same bed even after five years.
The story, popularly referred to as the 'Rescuing Hug' appeared in Reader's Digest and Life magazine as well. More importantly, this incident generated medical interest in co-bedding the premature twins, triplets, and quads. Premature twins were generally placed in separate incubators in order to avoid twin-to-twin infection, but clinical studies after this incident have shown that the babies will enjoy substantial benefits when placed in same bed together.
The story is a proof of the power of gentle human touch, signifies the importance of healthy physical contact and shows that love and affection can do wonders. A little bit of tender love towards fellow human beings indeed goes a long way.

Dashrath Manjhi - Man Who Moved a Mountain

Dashrath Manjhi - Man Who Moved a Mountain - Facts Analysis
The message claims that an Indian man named Dashrath Manjhi has carved a 360 ft road through a mountain after his wife Falguni Devi died because of lack of timely medical attention while traveling around the mountain. The story is a fact.
The Indian man in question, Dashrath Manjhi was born in 1934, to a poor labourer family of Gahlour village near Gaya, Bihar. In 1967, Dashrath Majhi's wife, Falguni Devi was injured and needed immediate medical attention. But unfortunately, the nearest town with a doctor was located 70 km away, as he had to travel around the Gehlour mountain hills; and as a result, his wife died due to lack of timely medical treatment. Dashrath was taken aback with the loss of his wife in this way. He realized that his village was situated in the lap of rocky hills and because of this the villagers would often face lot of trouble crossing the small distance between Atri and Wazirganj blocks of Gaya town. Dashrath Manjhi did not want anyone else to suffer the fate of his wife, so the old man started something no one could think of.
In memory of his wife, Dashrath wanted to break
down the hill and create a road path to make it easier for villagers to travel to the town. He took a hammer, chisel and nails and started hammering the hill, working day and night for almost 22 years. People considered him mad, but he still continued with his exemplary efforts and carved out a 360 feet long, 30 feet high and 25 feet wide passage through the Gehlour hills, which reduced the distance between Atri and Wazirganj from 55 km to 15 km. Some reports wrongly suggested that Dashrath reduced 70 km distance between Atri and Wazirganj to just 1 km. Dashrath finished this epic project in 1988 and this rare achievement brought him international acclaim. Further, he went on to meet the Bihar state administration officials, requesting them to construct a metalled road through the mountain.
For his glorious feat, this Bihari old man Dashrath Manjhi became popularly known as the 'Mountain Man', but unfortunately, he died on August 17, 2007 at the age of 80, while suffering from gall bladder cancer in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The mountain man was given a state funeral by the Government of Bihar. Later, Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar proposed to build a three-kilometre-long metalled road from Gahlaur to Amethi, naming the project as Dasrath Manjhi Road. A hospital in his name is also proposed, for serving the villagers. Noted filmmaker Ketan Mehta portrayed this mountain man Dashrath Manjhi as the poor man's Shah Jahan. The Bihar government also proposed Dashrath Manjhi's name for the Padma Shree award in 2006 in social service sector.
This is no doubt an inspiring, herculean achievement of the mountain man, both on personal and social front.

Loyal Dog Sleeps on Owner's Grave for the last 6 Years

Loyal Dog Sleeps on Owner's Grave for the last 6 Years

Story:

Loyal dog sits by owner's grave for the last six years.

Other Versions

1. For the past 6 years, a German shepherd called Capitan has slept next to the grave of his owner every night at 6pm. His owner, Miguel Guzman died in 2006. Capitan, the dog, disappeared while the family attended the funeral services. A week later relatives of Guzman were visiting the cemetery when they were astounded to find the dog next to the owner’s grave. The cemetery director says that the dog comes around each night at 6pm, and has done so for the past 6 years.
2. Faithful dog refuses to leave his owner's graveside for six years.

About the Dog

As told in the message, the dog is a German shepherd named Capitan. Miguel Guzman was the owner of Capitan who bought it in 2005, as a present for his 13 year old son Damian. According to the family members of Guzman, Capitan considered his owner as his best friend.

The Tragedy

The master of Capitan, Mr. Guzman died all of a sudden in March 2006, and by the time his family returned home from the funeral ceremony, Capitan was reported to have gone. Mr Guzman's widow wife Veronica explains about the loyal dog saying:
" We searched for him but he had vanished. We thought he must have got run over and died. The following Sunday we went to the cemetery and Damian recognized his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing, as if he were crying.
We had never taken him to the cemetery so it is a mystery how he managed to find the place. I don't think he wanted to leave Manuel on his own at night."
Guzman's son Damian said:
"I've tried to bring Capitan home several times, but he always comes straight back to the cemetery. I think he's going to be there until he dies too. He's looking after my dad."
The cemetery's director, Mr. Hector Baccega recalls the first day when he saw the dog at cemetery, saying:
"He turned up here one day, all on his own, and started wandering all around the cemetery until he eventually found the tomb of his master.
During the day he sometimes has a walk around the cemetery, but always rushes back to the grave. And every day, at six o'clock sharp, he lies down on top of the grave stays there all night."
Mr Baccega also said that the cemetery staff are now taking care of Capitan and feeding him.
Therefore, since his master died in 2006, the loyal and faithful dog Capitan has been around the grave for more than six years now. This story is somewhat similar to that of Hachiko, an Akita dog that waited for the return of his dead master at a Tokyo train station for nine years.
