Loyal Dog Sleeps on Owner's Grave for the last 6 Years

Loyal Dog Sleeps on Owner's Grave for the last 6 Years

Story:

Loyal dog sits by owner's grave for the last six years.

Other Versions

1. For the past 6 years, a German shepherd called Capitan has slept next to the grave of his owner every night at 6pm. His owner, Miguel Guzman died in 2006. Capitan, the dog, disappeared while the family attended the funeral services. A week later relatives of Guzman were visiting the cemetery when they were astounded to find the dog next to the owner’s grave. The cemetery director says that the dog comes around each night at 6pm, and has done so for the past 6 years.
2. Faithful dog refuses to leave his owner's graveside for six years.

About the Dog

As told in the message, the dog is a German shepherd named Capitan. Miguel Guzman was the owner of Capitan who bought it in 2005, as a present for his 13 year old son Damian. According to the family members of Guzman, Capitan considered his owner as his best friend.

The Tragedy

The master of Capitan, Mr. Guzman died all of a sudden in March 2006, and by the time his family returned home from the funeral ceremony, Capitan was reported to have gone. Mr Guzman's widow wife Veronica explains about the loyal dog saying:
" We searched for him but he had vanished. We thought he must have got run over and died. The following Sunday we went to the cemetery and Damian recognized his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing, as if he were crying.
We had never taken him to the cemetery so it is a mystery how he managed to find the place. I don't think he wanted to leave Manuel on his own at night."
Guzman's son Damian said:
"I've tried to bring Capitan home several times, but he always comes straight back to the cemetery. I think he's going to be there until he dies too. He's looking after my dad."
The cemetery's director, Mr. Hector Baccega recalls the first day when he saw the dog at cemetery, saying:
"He turned up here one day, all on his own, and started wandering all around the cemetery until he eventually found the tomb of his master.
During the day he sometimes has a walk around the cemetery, but always rushes back to the grave. And every day, at six o'clock sharp, he lies down on top of the grave stays there all night."
Mr Baccega also said that the cemetery staff are now taking care of Capitan and feeding him.
Therefore, since his master died in 2006, the loyal and faithful dog Capitan has been around the grave for more than six years now. This story is somewhat similar to that of Hachiko, an Akita dog that waited for the return of his dead master at a Tokyo train station for nine years.
