12 IITians who looked beyond the Typical
This is the reason most of the students and their parents are preferring to get admission in any of the Indian Institute of Technology which are located in many places across the world such as Mumbai, Patna, Varanasi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Kharagpur, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Indore, Chennai, Dhanbad, Delhi and Hyderabad. IIT is not just an educational program intended to produce future engineers. But, there is much more s much more to IIT and IITians than engineering. There are a lot of IITians who dared to sacrifice their dear IIT degrees in order to fulfill their dreams. Here’s a list of few IITians who followed their passions and contributed to the development of India.
1. Raju Narayana Swamy: IITian to IAS officer – Most Truthful Person Ever!
Raju Narayana Swami is a Computer Science graduate from IIT Madras who secured first place in the secondary state examination, plus two, pre-degree examination, GATE, and even topped the IAS entrance test. He even declined the scholarship offer from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.
He then stepped towards his dream to become an IAS officer and fight against corruption for the people of this country ever since. He is the most truthful person ever and didn’t even spare his father-in-law, who was a contractor, which led to his divorce.
2. Jairam Ramesh: Indian Economist
Jairam Ramesh is the former Indian Minister of Environment and Forests who graduated from IIT-Bombay in the year 1975 with a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then studied technology policy, economics, engineering, and management at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Ramesh has been a columnist for the Business Standard, Business Today, The Telegraph, Times of India and India Today.
With over 30 years of experience in economic and development policy, Jairam officially joined the All India National Congress on a full-time basis in 1998. He is the founding member of the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad. Being an IITian from a reputed institution, he stepped into Politics and is contributing for the development of the country.
