Three Chernobyl engineers volunteered to die to stop a reactor from exploding!












The Chernobyl disaster was a huge nuclear accident that took place on April 26th, 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine.
An explosion and fire pumped out radioactive material into the atmosphere which travelled over much of the western USSR and Europe.
It is known as the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, but it could easily have been so much worse.
The disaster was giving no sign of relenting when three engineers working at the power plant decided to lend a hand and risk their lives.
They dove into a pool of radioactive hydrogen peroxide without a working flashlight and managed to open a pipe to stop the reactor from exploding. The day wasn’t saved, but a few innocent hundred people must have been.
